The annual event is set for December 22, 2022, at Ontario Town Square
ONTARIO, California (Thursday, December 15, 2022) – The Christmas on Euclid Experience, a non-profit organization, produced by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, has announced the return of the annual Menorah Procession starting at Ontario Town Square. Downtown Ontario is in full swing of holiday celebrations during the month of December where several events provide a gathering place for the community at Ontario Town Square.
On Thursday, December 22, 2022, everyone is welcome to join the Jewish community for a Menorah Procession starting at 6:30pm at Ontario Town Square. Chanukah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, is an eight-day celebration, Jews celebrate the holiday by lighting an eight-branch candelabrum, commonly called a menorah. “Chanukah is a joyous time and the Menorah is a universal symbol of freedom,” said Rabbi Shalom Harlig, Director and Rabbi of the Chabad of the inland Empire. “The goal of this procession is to increase the awareness that light overcomes darkness and good triumphs over evil.”
Over the past three decades, the practice of community Menorah processions has drawn a worldwide following. The event is intended to promote this holiday’s concept of instilling light in the darkness. The Menorah’s unique design endures as a symbol of spreading divine light to the world.
“At this juncture in time, there is a lot of darkness in the world,” said Rabbi Harlig “Just one light can dispel the darkness.” The light is symbolic of a good deed and Chanukah is a time to remind us all that each one of us has the power to add light and good to this world.
Several members of the community will join together for the procession of Menorah-mounted vehicles, riding through neighborhoods, starting and ending at Ontario Town Square. The celebratory event starts at 6:30pm with the lighting of the Menorah, Jewish music, traditional latkes, and sufganiyot, and crafts at Ontario Town Square Park located at 224 N. Euclid Avenue in Ontario, near the intersection of Holt Boulevard and Euclid Avenue. The procession begins at 7 p.m. and will wind brightly through neighborhoods to its finish at Ontario Town Square.
