ONTARIO, California (Wednesday, June 15, 2022) – Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion®, powered by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, is proud to announce the entertainer for Saturday evening will be Sheila E. “We are so excited and honored to have this multi-talented, Grammy-nominated musician with over 40 years experience in the music industry headline our annual event!” said Michael Krouse, President & CEO of Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. The 9th annual Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion®, a two-day Cruisin’ Classic Car Show, spans over 22 city blocks of historic downtown Ontario and will take place on September 16-17, 2022.
Emmy and Grammy-nominated singer and percussionist Sheila E. was born into a musical family: the daughter of legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo, goddaughter of Tito Puente and niece of ACL Hall of Fame inductee Alejandro Escovedo. Known as the Queen of percussion, the world-famous musician has played with hundreds of artists, from Herbie Hancock and Marvin Gaye to Ringo Starr and Prince. She also scored her own top 10 solo hits with “A Love Bizarre” and “The Glamorous Life.” Her acclaimed memoir The Beat of My Own Drum was published in 2014. In 2021, Sheila and her father Pete Escovedo received Lifetime achievement awards from the Latin Grammys. She continues to tour the world and record songs. Currently, she is working on her first Salsa album, and she has embarked on an acting career which includes work on BET’s The Family Business and the upcoming Eureka for Disney.”
The main stage is at Ontario Town Square will come alive in the evening with live concerts. SHEILA E. will perform on September 17, the exact time for the concert will be announced on the official website – Route66cruisinreunion.org or GOCVB.org. There are no tickets to purchase, the live entertainment is part of the overall community event. Lawn chairs and blankets can be placed on the grass to enjoy the show. All entertainment, like the event itself, is family-friendly and free to attend. Nearly 1,000 classic cars, live concerts, and family activities draw a crowd of more than 150,000 attendees annually. Historic downtown Euclid Avenue in Ontario provides a tree-lined grass median where family and friends gather to enjoy the festivities. Unique to many classic car shows is the “cruisin” on city streets as well as the show and shine.
