(ONTARIO, California, July 15, 2024) – Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion will rock Friday night, Sept. 20 with the legendary classic rock band Grand Funk Railroad in concert at Ontario Town Square.
Known for their signature hit “We’re an American Band,” Grand Funk Railroad released six albums from 1970-1972 and a slew of hits. This is the band that sold out Shea Stadium in 72 hours. Top hits include “Some Kind of Wonderful, “Closer to Home,” “Loco-Motion,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Footstompin’ Music.”
Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, Grand Funk Railroad is excited to be touring in 2024 marking a 55-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2023, Grand Funk’s “The Loco-Motion Tour” will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.
Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums) and bassist Mel Schacher. Filling out the band is singer Max Carl, veteran of the band “38 Special” who penned and sang “Second Chance,” lead guitarist Mark Chatfield (three-decades with “Bob Seger’s Silver Bullet Band”), and keyboardist Tim Cashion.
Opening performers for the Friday rock party include national touring artist Harlis Sweetwater. His bluesy rock voice and guitar riff garnered praise from DJ Uncle Joe Benson and “Rock & Blues Muse Magazine.” MC & DJ Dave Muzik Man emcees Friday and Saturday’s Concerts.
This is Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion’s 11th year of classic cars cruising in a constant parade up and down picturesque Euclid Avenue. Last year over 900 vehicles – hot rods, Mustangs, deuce coupes, “Tin Lizzy’s” and family cars, participated in one of the largest car shows of California.
The event includes two nights of evening concerts, hours of cruisin’ and a drone show both nights that pays homage to the historical Route 66. Registration is now open for all 4-wheeled or more vehicles up to vintage 1988. Awards for “Best of Show” and “Best in Class” are announced Saturday evening of the event.
