Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the annual Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion® classic car event has been canceled. The eighth annual event was due to take place on September 18-19, 2020. “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion” said Michael Krouse, President & CEO.  “We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to classic car owners, but to our visitors and the regional community as well.”

This was not a decision made lightly and there are two overriding concerns that have caused the decision to cancel the event at this time. First is the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 that has forced the closure of entertainment venues and several festivals in the State of California. With the current uptick in cases of this disease and unknown conditions predicted for September the probability of factors outside the control of the event organizers forced the decision to cancel the event.  Second, the primary concern of Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau is the safety and responsibility of the classic car owners, sponsors, exhibitors and the general public.

Classic car owners that have registered their vehicles have been notified. Visitors planning to attend from outside the area and other states will have now have sufficient time to cancel their annual trip for the event.  The local economy, including hotels, restaurants, and retail shops will miss the benefits of this regional signature event. Plans for Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion for 2021 are already underway.

Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion®, a two-day Cruisin’ Classic Car Show that spans over 22 city blocks of historic downtown Ontario, takes place annually on the third weekend of September.  Historic downtown Euclid Avenue in Ontario, California provides a tree lined grass median where family and friends gather to enjoy the festivities.
