GETTING TO, FROM, AND AROUND GREATER ONTARIO

The Greater Ontario area and its neighboring cities in Southern California’s Inland Empire are easily accessible from just about anywhere in Southern California.

The spacious Ontario International Airport (ONT) is a medium-hub, full-service airport with daily flights to and from major U.S. cities and connecting service to many international destinations. The airport is served by several domestic carriers such as Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest and United and daily non-stop service on China Airlines to Taipei. The airport’s Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC) is known for its convenience and efficiency.

Ontario and the region also are served by Amtrak, which stops daily in Ontario as well as several other local cities. Metrolink provides commuter rail service several times daily, connecting to points east as well as to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, where passengers may connect with Amtrak (Amtrak also stops directly in Ontario). During summer months, Metrolink also offers a beach train from the Inland Empire to Oceanside in San Diego County.

Another get-around option is via city buses. The agency that serves Ontario and surrounding communities is Omnitrans, and its buses traverse the region daily, with stops at or near such key destinations as LA/Ontario International Airport; Ontario Mills, Victoria Gardens, and Montclair Plaza shopping areas; Ontario Convention Center and Toyota Arena.

For those who prefer doing the driving themselves, several car rental agencies are housed just east of the main terminals at Ontario International Airport, with free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Greater Ontario is convenient to a number of local freeways, all of which provide easy access to Southern California’s world-class destinations. From Los Angeles and other points west, drive east on Interstate 10 or Route 60. From San Diego and other points south, head north on Interstate 15, then west on Interstate 10 or Route 60. From Las Vegas, drive south on Interstate 15, then west on Interstate 10 or Route 60. From southern Arizona and the Palm Springs area, take Interstate 10 west.
